Workshop - Interdisciplinary Work

Interdisciplinarity is an essential feature of the MoWiKo project. Together with Stefan Götze from the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) we explored how to better coordinate and integrate our work processes.

Interdisciplinarity is an essential feature of the MoWiKo project. In this workshop with Dr. Stefan Götze from the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS) we explored how to coordinate our work processes and translate the specific thought style of each discipline for the other team members.

Our project is designed so that in future phases, we can rely on the interim results of colleagues from all disciplines. For this, it is necessary that we gain insights into the theories, methods, and tools of our team members and that we coordinate the individual work phases well organizationally. The focus was on the concept of moralization: its definition and the discipline-specific operationalization in the respective subprojects. Through lively exchanges, we sharpened our understanding and overcame some hurdles that only became apparent through intensive joint work. Naturally, there were also numerous points of connection for further discussions and content focus.

Afterwards, we visited the KIT research group Artificial Intelligence for Language Technologies (AI4LT) led by Prof. Dr. Jan Niehues. Our exchange focused on learning about current practices, interests, and problems in AI research through a concrete example. The conversation quickly moved towards science communication: What expectations did AI researchers have of our project?

The opportunity to exchange ideas across disciplinary boundaries in an accessible manner was beneficial and inspiring.
