Do Moralised Attitudes Go Hand in Hand with Greater Intolerance?

MoWiKo research at the annual conference of the International Communication Association

Lisa Gaffney and Prof. Dr. Senja Post attended this year’s International Communication Association (ICA) conference MoWiKo was also represented. In Cape Town, Lisa Gaffney presented research findings from a survey conducted as part of the project. The study examined, for example, how moral convictions regarding the Energy transition are related to openness to other opinions on this topic and the willingness to censor them. Meeting with researchers from around the world offered not only the opportunity to present one’s own research but also to engage in valuable exchanges.

The International Communication Association (ICA) is the leading international professional association for communication studies and promotes academic exchange through numerous sections on topics such as political communication, science communication, and environmental communication. The 76th ICA Annual Conference took place this year from June 4–8, 2026, in Cape Town.
