During an intensive working meeting, the project teams from the fields of communication studies, linguistics, and philosophy presented and discussed the current status of their research. This led to exciting and enriching discussions that provided valuable insights for the project’s further development.

Lisa Gaffney and Senja Post presented the initial analysis results from the survey on the energy transition for the communication studies subproject. The results revealed some interesting and surprising correlations between moral convictions, willingness to compromise, tolerance, and the respondents’ objective knowledge. In the field of linguistics, Janine Dengler presented progress in discourse and corpus linguistics as well as initial ideas for a psycholinguistic study as part of her dissertation. Anna Klassen presented, on behalf of the philosophy subproject, results from the text coding of moralized communication styles and analyses of discourse strategies related to moralization.

The diverse results provided ample material for discussion and stimulated a lively interdisciplinary exchange. In addition to the substantive points, the timeline for the remaining project duration was finalized. In the coming months, in addition to further work on the subprojects, the focus will be on finalizing guidelines and planning a workshop with science communication practitioners.

The meeting once again highlighted how valuable interdisciplinary exchange is for the project’s further development. We look forward to the next steps!
